How we met…

THE YEAR WAS 2019

Dave just moved back to the states after living in Spain for 2 years. He also just finished up another summer trip to ASP (Appalachia Service Project) where he was playing baseball and went face first into a fence, and got a major black eye. This didn’t stop him from going to Brooklyn to visit some college friends and hang out for Gary’s barbecue in his backyard in Bed Stuy (say that 5 times fast!!).

Mei-Mei was also invited to this barbecue by her friend Zach, which we later learn, is also Dave’s friend…

AS ANY GOOD LOVE STORY BEGINS

They barely spoke in Gary’s backyard, but Mei-Mei was intrigued by the guy with the black eye. Since they had a mutual friend, they would see each other occasionally, especially during the pandemic. And…the rest is history.

A classic pandemic love story!

Bridesmaids

  • Michael

    MAN OF HONOR

Michael and I met while on set for a Zara Man campaign, where we became quick friends! Since then, we’ve been attached at the hip and talk to each other literally every day.

  • Lauren

    MATRON OF HONOR

We’ve been friends since preschool! From school, sports, summer camp, trips to Peru, and everything in between - we’ve done most of life together (including being Lauren’s Maid of Honor!).

  • Christiana

    Bridesmaid

Christiana and I met through work and trauma bonded immediately (with Michael!). We are now neighbors, where we frequently exchange food and have movie nights.

  • Bailey

    Bridesmaid

Friends from New York, we met at a mutual friend’s birthday brunch (Sarah!) and instantly became friends. Some of my favorite times going out in NY include Bailey being right next to me!

  • Demetries

    Bridesman

Demetries was my first friend in New York! We met while working retail (shoutout Urban Outfitters) and realized we were soul mates. We have the best time when we’re dancing together!

  • Allison

    Bridesmaid

We met our senior year of college in photo class. We both attended a “moving to New York” seminar, and we decided to be roommates. We started out in Bushwick and ended up lived together for 5 years!

  • Gerald

    Bridesman

Gerald and I met through Demetries, and began our friendship through our love of music. We’ve gone to many concerts together, and collaborated on creative projects. Fun fact, he made our wedding logo and the doodles found on our website!

  • Monique

    Bridesmaid

Mo and I became friends through Zach (another one!), and we spent covid together in Cape Cod. We lived together in Paris for 3 months, where we spent our weekends living our lives like our idol - Ina Garten.

  • Sarah

    Bridesmaid

Sarah and I met the first day of college at art school at our hall meeting for our dorm. We then became roommates in Chicago our sophomore year. When Sarah moved to New York after her graduation, I followed the year after!

  • Claire

    Bridesmaid

As you can tell from the picture, I always have the most fun time with Claire! We met while living in New York and spent many fun nights going out together. We love a winter ski trip, and doing pickle-back shots!

Groomsmen

  • Yoni

    BEST MAN

Yoni and I were neighbors growing up and go way back to Wilmington Friends middle school and our youth club soccer team, Concord Chaos. We’ve stayed close friends ever since and we still play adult league soccer together in Brooklyn, albeit at a (much) slower pace than our heydays.

  • Andy

    Groomsman

Andy is my older brother who I still enjoy pestering. Andy taught me everything I know (or so he claims) and is a great big brother who still watches out for me.

  • AJ

    Groomsman

I first knew AJ as the red hair kid in Naamans little league who always struck me out. We went from baseball rivals to soccer and knee hockey teammates and best buds at Concord High School.

  • Eamon

    Groomsman

Eamon and I met playing soccer at the Concord Chaos. We bonded through our love of soccer and figuring out how to keep the team together over the years. Eamon is a great friend, so we can forgive the fact that he pays his bets back “in favors.”

  • Mark

    Groomsman

Mark was my sophomore year roommate at F&M with James and Kyle where he joined the Mario Kart wars. We both majored in government, were in the same fraternity, and are lefties. Where Mark goes I follow!

  • Kyle

    Groomsman

Kyle and I met on our first day at F&M playing pick up basketball and quickly became friends as I fed him corner threes. He was my sophomore year roommate with James and Mark, and we still live close to each other in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

  • Zach

    Groomsman

Zach and I met freshman year at F&M where we became fast friends, eventually living with each other senior year. I am forever in Zach’s debt for introducing me to my lovely bride. Shoutout to Zach and long live the sunrise committee!

  • James

    Groomsman

James was my freshman and sophomore year roommate at F&M. We first bonded over our respective sports, soccer and crew, but our true friendship began through the one and only GameCube Mario Kart. James plays with Waluigi which I still find a little strange but love him for nonetheless.

  • Quentin

    Groomsman

Quentin and I go all the way back to preschool where I witnessed his love for math at a young age. We later reconnected at Wilmington Friends middle school and stayed close friends over the years until we again became school buds, this time at Rutgers for our respective PhDs (math for him and political science for me).

  • Kai

    Groomsman

Kai became my roommate in January of 2020 as we pursued our PhDs at Rutgers. Kai and I bonded early through our PhD misery, and soon became a lot closer as we began to spend nearly every waking moment together after the pandemic hit in March.
